In reponse to Perry's response Oracle is not as expensive as it used to be. In fact when we priced out informix and oracle , oracle was cheaper becuase we did not want the host based tools which we were required to get with Informix's minimium developer license counts. Whether we used it or not we had to buy 4 developer licenses for informix. Sybase was also very close in price. So the market share numbers maynot be such a bad proxy for the number of licenses.
