Did you search Deja for my connect string? I don't think you can use a provider, you just use an ODBC connect string on the ADO Connection/Command/Recordset. I am using the same version as you - 2.5. -----Original Message----- From: Markus Letschka [mailto:markus.letschka@kstp.at] Sent: Saturday, July 24, 1999 5:49 AM To: Schaeflein, Paul Subject: Re: Need help with Informix and ADO It does not work anyway. The "specified OLE DB Provider" seems to be MSDASQL, according to the Provider property of my Connection object. The corresponding DLL (as I looked up in the registry) is installed. Is it possible, that I have a too old version of Informix CLI? ----- Original Message ----- From: Schaeflein, Paul <pschaefl@Sidley.com> Newsgroups: comp.databases.informix Sent: Friday, July 23, 1999 8:50 PM Subject: RE: Need help with Informix and ADO > > You need to add "ODBC;" in front of your connect string. > > Search in Deja News -- I've answered this question in much more detail > before and those details are not handy at the moment. > > -----Original Message----- > From: Letscho [mailto:markus.letschka@kstp.at] > Sent: Friday, July 23, 1999 12:00 PM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Need help with Informix and ADO > > > Hi! > > I need to get an ODBC-Connection to an IDS (Informix CLI 2.5) via ADO. > According to some examples from the MSDN I tried the following code: > > Dim rst As New ADODB.Recordset > rst.Open "SELECT * FROM test", "DSN=somedsn;UID=max;PWD=anypwd;" > Do Until rst.EOF > Debug.Print rst("anyfield") > rst.MoveNext > Loop > rst.Close > > At execution I get the following error Message: > "Runtime Error 3706: ADO could not find the specified OLE DB Provider." > > The ODBC-source is installed correctly (I can access using DAO).
