Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hello,
i am familiar to Oracle but new to Informix. Since this morning some users
cannot logged
into the database some others can. I check this with dbaccess. dbaccess
return the error message :
...err = -951....
A second problem since this morning :
i can´t start ontape a; the error message is :
could not write log tape
Is there an relationsship ?
I shutdown the Informix Server and restart it. This dosn´t work.
Thank´s in advance
Rainer

Finderr -951 says this is "User username not known on remote system..."
So those users for who it is failing do not have a valid login on the
server host that matches either their local login name or id or the
username specified in the ~/.netrc file for the server host.

Nope different problem. Any other information like an errno? Can you
read/write/position the tape manually using 'mt' or 'dd'? Is the
LTAPEDEV parameter in the ONCONFIG file set to "/dev/null"? You cannot
back up logs to /dev/null using ontape they are automatically discarded
when LTAPEDEV = /dev/null so no backup is neccessary or possible.

I imagine it did not since the engine seems fine.
