ORACLE vs. Informix Performance: What Is Fastest?

-> My client is running Informix 5.0 on an Intergraph 6850 box under CLIX 7.5; -> unfortunately, they are experiencing unacceptable performance. Intergraph -> says they are running the same rulebase in Huntsville using ORACLE 7, and -> not experiencing any performance problems. Does this sound legitimate? We -> are talking about 1.5 hours in Informix vs. several minutes in ORACLE. 1. Run UPDATE STATISTICS. 2. Use SET EXPLAIN to check if you're running the right indexes. 3. Are you on SE or OnLine? (SE is slower than OnLine). 4. If you're using OnLine, are you on raw devices? 5. Are you using stored procedures or 4GL or ESQL/C. 6. If you're on SE, is your disk full?
