Re: AIX vs. NT for Informix Server

Dan, Go with UNIX. UNIX is a whole lot better than NT. NT is immature as far as an operating system, and won't have half the functionality of a UNIX server. Clients can be NT, but certainly you want UNIX, especially if you have 4GL. And like others have said, you can save all the stuff from your other system, and move it to a newer UNIX. I'm using XPS 8.21 on a 4-node AIX SP cluster for a data warehouse and it screams. It's faster than anything I've seen yet. And it definitely kicks Oracle's ass. No doubt about that. NT? Hmmm, makes an interesting client, but as a server? Maybe for a small business with a couple of users. :-) Tim Tim Schaefer tschaefe@mindspring.com www.inxutil.com Dan Dwyer wrote: > > We will be migrating our Informix database application from a SunOS > system to either > AIX or NT.
