update aborts with -408

Does anybody has a tip? What is wrong with the following statement insite ESQL/C $update t1 set p = (select sum(p0) from t0 where kdnr1 = kdnr0) t0 and t1 are temporary tables t0: kdnr0 is double and p0 is integer, t1: kdnr1 is double and p too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it crashes with -408 in so a hard type that the temp-tables are not removed! Many thanks for help, i REALLY NEEDED! Having no idee whats going on and how to debug it.
