Print a tag (ie a string that won't appear normally in the report) at the top of page before the start of each state, then use "csplit" (context split, assuming you have it) to break the file using the tags. If you don't have csplit then something similar could easily be written using awk or perl. But if you could sort by state in the calling function then you can easily finish and restart the report for each state, and if you can't sort in the foreach then you might be able to use a temp table, as Walt suggested. Bear in mind when considering a temp table that if you were to use ORDER BY {not external} in the report then the report will effectively use a temp table for sorting anyway, but if instead you sort your own temp table explicitly then you can use ORDER BY EXTERNAL in the report. -- Hugh Grierson hugh@fujitsu.co.nz 14C, sunny
