Informix Documentation

Is there any kind of "man pages" available for Informix? (Sybase provides "syman"; but it's really annoying to have to find a copy of an Informix manual (which isn't well organized or well-written) just to verify what "popquote" does (exactly, that is--does it null terminate strings (yes), but what about popvchar()?, is the null terminator included in the length you pass it?) who can remember? who cares? Why should I have to go on a crusade for the Holy Grail just to find this out? I know, I might as well ask our system administrators, why there aren't complete man-pages on our main development server too. (It's friggin' ridiculous!). I grew up living off of man-pages, and if they aren't there, I inevitably spend 5 times as long trying to find what something does in some huge manual or am forced to test by trial and error how something works. I know you can put anything in man pages that you want; is there any reason not to? Not to mention that it's difficult enough to find a "grammar" for 4GL, whose authors never thought to make it orthagonal. Any other's who feel as frustrated as I? How can we get Informix to help us out on this one? - Daniel Wright danwright@bigfoot.com
