Starting "tbtape -c" automatically?
Posted in 1997
Hi, I'm trying to find a method to start continuous backup of logical logs (tbtape -c) automatically on system startup. At the moment, I'm using "screen" to activate continuous backup and then detach the running screen session, since I don't have a terminal to spare. However, so far I haven't found a way to automate this process. I tried using a here-script, which does work fine for the tbtape part, but then bombs on the "Ctrl-A d" command used to detach the screen session. I get "^A d not found". I just KNOW that murphy will hit with the system rebooting on a friday night and the database coming to a screeching halt with "logical logs full" until Monday morning when I come back to work to start tbtape -c... How do others solve this problem?
