Those are, of course, your feelings and I wouldn't want to contradict them, but just to counterpoint the annecdotal evidence, the 2 mid sized SE sites I support (1Gb Db, largest table .5Mil rows), have had no DB related problems for over 2 years. I've only ever run [b|se]check on one of them, once, and that was only for interest's sake. All of David's technical points are very valid (SE can only roll forward , locks in transactions behave differently (and in less logical manner) than Online/DSA etc), but for small-middle level apps, with 10-40 users and no great table size, SE *is* a fast, simple and stable alternative. You just have to weigh up the risks, same as any business decision. > >-- >David Williams >Maintainer of the Informix FAQ > Primary site (Beta Version) http://www.smooth1.demon.co.uk > Official site http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/faq_top.html >I see you standin', Standin' on your own, It's such a lonely place for you, For >you to be If you need a shoulder, Or if you need a friend, I'll be here >standing, Until the bitter end... >So don't chastise me Or think I, I mean you harm... >All I ever wanted Was for you To know that I care -- Bryan Tonnet batonnet@phase4.com.au
