But IDS is much more expensive (3 times the licence price as WKG, >min. 10 licenses per site) and the customer said it has a better offer >from Oracle. Something like: how is it >comparing to Informix replication, which Oracle servers have it and which >don't and so on 2. At one time there was a romour that IDS WKG 7.31 will >include ER. Is that true? 3. Is there ANY chance to make ER/CDR work >between an IDS server and a IDS/WKG server? 4. What third-party >replication products would you recommend? Well, if ER-type functionality is a requisite, I would simply go back to the client and remind them that paying the license fee is the smallest cost of owning a database. If they want the best overall database technology, easier administration and more bang for their buck, they should rather go with Informix despite the higher sticker initially. Ask them whether that sticker price difference compensates for requiring three times the DBA staff for the remainder of the project's life, for instance. Plus more training for Oracle developers and users than for Informix developers and users. Etc. Don't try and fight this on Oracle's terms. You'll lose. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
