Hi ,
Do not have a problem installing the TDPi end. More on how I get
Informix to talk to the server as Tivoli is very heavily used here and
from there how do I schedule backup's. Also how do you get manual
backup's going. Again I do not get access to the server end. Do I need
it as from the doc's I have read it implies I can schedule it from the
client end.
Thanks

It's all in the notes that come with TDPi.
Anyway, assuming you're on unix then as user informix issue the onbar
command to start backup manually:
$ onbar -bIf all configuration has been set up correct the backup should land on
the TSM server.
If it doesn't work check that you have the following environment:
INFORMIXDIR, DSMI_LOG, DSMI_DIR, DSMI_CONFIG and DSMI_INF_DIR
Check the TSM client configuration files:
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin/dsm.opt
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin/dsm.sys
Have you made a symlink like?:
$INFORMIXDIR/lib/bsad001.o -> /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/informix/bin/bsashr10.o
Ask your manager for an Informix System Administration course.
