I've seen this stuff from the linux boosters in most of the unix n/groups. As Mark says, who in their right mind is going to spend lots of time and aggravation configuring Linux and Informix to save peanuts??? solaris X86 student/developer price was something like $100US a little while ago. Unixware PE is pretty cheap too. Both have *supported* Informix ports. Try buying maintenance/tech support for Informix on linux! Most of us charge as much *a day* as a PC unix o/s costs now. Yes, linux is a brilliant bit of work, runs in smaller memory and less h/ware than SCO, Solaris or Unixware. Who cares? I need to work with commercial database ports, as do nearly all of us here. That means Linux is not going to be considered until Informix, Oracle et al have supported ports for it. Please, save the Linux advocacy for the advocacy n/groups.
