How long do you run between shutdowns

Here is a question. How long do you run between system shutdowns? Configuration: IBM RS6000 PowerServer 360 AIX 3.2.4 Informix-OnLine 4.10.UD2 (from the isql intro screen) What we have is a library automation system on this machine. Is there any reason, from the database perspective, why the machine should/would need to be rebooted on a daily, or every other day, schedule? I am not very familiar with databases and how they operate so any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
