Hello, We are getting following error after restarting secondary instance . 01:50:44 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Started. 01:50:44 semget: errno = 28 01:50:44 create_vp: cannot allocate semaphore We are using IDS11.50FC8W3 with solaris spark. Can any one help us to resolve this issue. Thanks.
You have to increase the number of available semaphores in the OS. The Solaris tunable should be semmax IB. Not a system admin, but check the Informix release notes, it should be listed there. thanks art for quick response, i am unable to find this parameter from document , can you guide me for finding this value.
The error number description is:
$ finderr 28-28 No space left on device.
An operating-system error code with the meaning shown was unexpectedly
returned to the database server. Either a database table or an ASCII
output file has probably filled the available disk space. Look for
other operating-system error messages that might give more
information.
You might also want to check for existing shared memory entries,
e.g. from SunOS 5.10 running IDS 11.50.FC9:
$ ipcs # (add "-a" for more detail)T ID KEY MODE OWNER GROUP
Message Queues:
Shared Memory:
m 2 0x52574803 --rw-rw-rw- root informix
m 1 0x52574802 --rw-rw---- root informix
m 0 0x52574801 --rw-rw---- root informix
Semaphores:
s 1 0 --ra-ra-ra- root informix
s 0 0 --ra-ra---- root informix
Any that shouldn't be there can be removed with "ipcrm".
