SE to ONLINE conversion

I have a few problems regarding a 3rd parth product and informix ONLINE. On the standard engine tables can be linked - ie. TABLE 1 (3rd party product) TABLE 2 (own table) Table 2 is just a 'tablename'in in the systables. The dirpath will point to the location of the c-isam table TABLE1. All updates from either our own software or the 3rd party's software will look at the same table. NOW THE PROBLEM When converting to Informix Online, there are no DIRPATH in the systables. We have used the synonym command ie. create sysnonym table2 for table1. This is fine for the table names, but the column names in table1 and table2 is not the same. Is there a way to create a synonym for a column name aswell? We have looked at creating a view that will solve the table name and column name problem, but - 1. You cannot do any locking on a view. 2. There is a speed implication with views aswell. We want to have one binary for poth engines. You can think what the code changed will be to have seperate selects, updates,inderts and deletions for both engines. Online version is 5.0 and SE is 4.11 Thanks in advance. Riaan Venter
