If the risk of losing a day's worth of data is acceptable, then setting the log tape device (LTAPEDEV) to /dev/null is a reasonable option. If you do this, you don't even need to run the continuous backup -- the engine seems to know that /dev/null means the backup would only be thrown away and therefore frees each log as soon as it is no longer needed for rolling back open transactions. -- Irwin Goldstein Objective Software Systems, Inc. http://www.objectsoft.com
