[...] As the "finderr -134" output indicates, you either need to reduce the number of locks you use or add more locks. If these messages always appear together then solving the locks problem will probably solve your -908 problem, too. By default, the OnLine configuration parameter for LOCKS is only 2,000, which is fine for trivial applications like the stores7 database, but hardly enough for a major installation. Read the entries in the "Informix-OnLine Dynamic Server Administrator's Guide" that pertain to locks. Be aware also of limitations imposed by the operating system and the size of shared memory. The maximum number of locks under version 7.x is 8,000,000. This should give you flexibility to configure this parameter to suit your application within the constraints of your hardware. Further, this illustrates the need for adequate training for the OnLine product, especially at the later version numbers. RTFM very thoroughly, the Informix Docs are the envy of the business and (relatively speaking) a pleasure to read. Consider enrolling in a class on the product, and maintain an active presence in the groups that can help to support you, such as cdi and your local Informix user group, as well as the broader support of the International Informix User Group. Good luck, and welcome to the club. ______________________________________________________ Clem Akins (aka clema@informix.com) Informix Software, Inc (Standard disclaimers apply) International Technical Support Last seen: On Formosa!
