If you recall a while back I had attempted to talk about the ONCONFIG file and how it could be improved. And the idea of having to bounce the engine just to change many of the settings is also something that should be changed. An interactive "control panel" for Online Dynamic Server would be a great idea, and making sure that changes could be applied without having to bounce the engine. Apparently most folks are content with a bounce-based management scheme. The above situation, that CAN be changed dynamically is nice, but the whole engine should be tunable DYNAMICALLY. Currently the real definition of "Dynamic Server" applies only to the ability of the engine to handle large numbers of users--or in the sense that the engine behaves dynamically but no DBA intervention is allowed. Hmmmm... I need to add this to the wish list... :-) -- Tim Schaefer \\\\|// tschaefe@mindspring.com (6 6) ------------------------oOOo---( )---o00o--------- http://www.inxutil.com
