Hi,
You should be able to use the INFORMIXC variable. On Solaris, I
could get the following to work -
INFORMIXC="purify <supply right options here if needed> cc -g"export INFORMIXC
where <supply right options here if needed> look something like this on
Solaris -- "-best-effort -cache-dir/tmp -ignore-runtime-environment"
Then compiling ESQL/C application directly using -
esql a.ec
should work just fine.

Try getting esql to use a different $CC by exporting the INFORMIXC
environment variable, for example:
export INFORMIXC="purify gcc"
