RE: Is Informix v7.23 good?

I haven't followed this thread, so if I have a suggestion that has =
already been suggested, please ignore this.
It is possible to set INFORMIXDIR to something else, say /usr/informix2 =
and install the new software. We have done this occasionally when =
testing an upgrade. Once it is done, we simply drop the old =
/usr/informix directory (after killing all open processes of course, =
like oninit), tar off the /usr/informix2 to disk and tar it back in to =
/usr/informix.
That way we can keep the 2 versions together on the same box for =
sometime before we decide either way.

It actually came in after mine, and I replied to it. :-)
Guess you didn't see my reply. ;-)

Sorry, I can't. You can't even use a symbolic link, because it drops
the link every time it writes to the file.

Seems a fair assumption to me. If you bought two versions, then
that's fine. But if it's an upgrade, then the whole idea is to
overwrite your last version. Also, your support won't cover your old
version after the upgrade.
