Wed use 2.10.03 SE Informix on our Unisys platform. Our perms are set as follows: /u is 755, owner informix /u/maindir is 775 group infomrix, owner our database developer /u/maindir/*.dbs and /u/maindir/*.dbs/* are 770 with owner and group informix We have no trouble granting permissions, or any other problems you described. In our INFORMIXDIR/bin following files have setuid bits: mkdbsdir is rwsr-sr-x, and changrp is rwsr-sr-x. I would, as you suggested, suspect setuid bits might be your problem. Re-install SQL?...changrp sounds like a likely candidate! Oh yes, owner of those setuid files is root, group informix Ann Barnes, Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg PA SYSADMIN, not programmer!
