RE: Informix Native .Net Provider???

I've asked this question before and been told its coming in the next release (v2.9?). Lets cross our fingers anyway :-) David -----Original Message----- From: Gregg Walker [mailto:gregg@rrmca.com] Sent: 29 May 2003 03:47 To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Informix Native .Net Provider??? I realize the answer to this question is more than likely no. However, I was wondering if anyone close to the inside knows if IBM has plans to create a native .Net provider for Informix? Also maybe it's just my environment but the Client SDK and Oledb driver for Informix seem to be getting progressively buggier and out of touch with the Windows version. Does the CSDK product get any real development priority for Windows OS or is it just a product that's put out so IBM/Informix can say they work in the Windows world? And finally does anyone know of a vendor that sells a native .Net informix provider or a reputable ODBC and oledb driver for informix? BTW. I love the Informix database. Been using since 1986... Currently using IDS 9.30 on AIX 5.1. I wish IBM/Informix would do a better job of integrating on the windows client side with products such as VS.Net. However, I realize that is probably impractical since Informix is now a "dying product". We are currently evaulating our future direction with company database and I don't think IBM has done enough to convince me that it's worth staying with Informix or IBM for that matter. I just don't see they same quality of support for the product that used to be there. I also have some experience with DB2 and don't want to go there. Anyway sorry for rambling on... Gregg Walker
