No it's not, it's in it's own dbspace.
I tried however ( on a test server ), to drop the index and create it
without any "in" clause, so that it would follow the fragmentation of the
table. That didn't buy me any performance gains.

this is a disk type performance issue. My onstat -g iov has the inverted
pyramid.

What about statistics ? How recent you have the stats for this table
and how often and percent of rows will get updates and deletes ?
