Jeff You cannot do it in straight SQL because you manipulate the data through a pointer to either a location in memory or a file. You might be able to do what you require using a stored procedure, but I have my doubts without trying it. Mark MarkDenham@aol.com (home) Denham.M@amstr.com (work)
