Unable to connect to remote DB Instance via C++ Object Interface

Have configured a connection to remote datbase with setnet32 DBPing works fine against remote instance. Not able to connect to remote database using Informix C++ Object Interface. If I run the same program against a local Infomix database the Object Interface works just fine. Anyone ??
