SPL Workstation is a professional integrated development environment for Informix server-side applications. It provides Informix back-end developers with easy-to-use powerful tools to develop, debug, analyze and tune a performance of stored procedures, triggers and SQL statements. Stored Procedure & Trigger Debugger - execute code line-by-line, step into nested procedures and fired triggers - set breakpoints - watch & edit variables and procedure arguments - 'Standalone' and remote debugging modes allow debugging from within SPL Workstation and also debugging of procedures and triggers executed from any other application such as Visual Basic, Powerbuilder, C++, Informix-4GL at any computer on the network. - break infinite loops Easy Code Writing - color-coded SQL Editor - complete syntax checking - integrated execution plan analyzer for procedures and individual statements (EXPLAIN PLAN) - paste into your source SPL commands and generated INSERT/UPDATE/SELECT statements based on structures of existing tables and views - cross reference syntax of nested procedures and views - execute SQL scripts and display multiple result sets - text block commenting and indention Performance Tuning - Execution plan analyzer integrated with SQL Editor graphically displays output of Informix optimizer. It allows you to see 'estimated cost' of each internal operation and the way in which server uses table indexes for any issued SQL query or executed stored procedure. - After each 'check syntax' operation you can see an optimizer 'estimated cost' of the SQL statement. - Session Browser allows you to capture and view all server sessions and last SQL statement executed on each session. For each session you can see an 'estimated cost' of last statement and the number of data rows affected by the statement. Application Analysis - Dependencies Viewer builds the entire dependencies tree for a selected object. Dependencies tree consists of all objects directly or indirectly referred by the selected object including procedures, triggers, tables and views. - Reference Analyzer allows you to run 'impact analysis' on any object. It makes it easy to answer questions like 'Find all places in all databases where the selected table is updated' or 'Find all source code lines in all stored procedures from where get_user_id procedure is called' Object Maintenance - Object Explorer displays all objects in your database using a convenient tree view. For each object you can see its properties such as table structures, list of indexes, source code for procedures and triggers, triggers associated with the table and more. It also allows you to open code editors, data editors or debuggers for any object on the server. - Project View allows you to logically organize objects in the database for an easy access. You can create virtual project folders with any level of nesting and place in folders shortcuts for any logically related objects such as procedures, triggers, tables and views. Data Editing - You can edit table data using 'spreadsheet style' windows. - Visually filter and sort table data. - Export table data into variety of formats such as TEXT, EXCEL, etc. SPL Workstation is used by hundreds of Informix professionals around the world to create and maintain high quality, reliable SPL applications and save valuable development time.
