What you are seeing is that "oninit -i" spawns dbaccess to build the sysmaster database. dbaccess goes through the normal client connection. Other commands like onmode and onmonitor interact directly with shared memory so only INFORMIXSERVER needs to be set. -- Stephen Hemminger <sch@informix.com>
