RE: HDR and enterprise replication
Posted in 1999
From the Informix ER training manual.
HDR Features
Synchronous or asynchronous updates
A single primary server and a single secondary server
If the primary server fails, write access is automatically enabled on the
secondary server.
Replicates the entire database server and all of its databases
HDR Restrictions
Requires separate but identical machines(HW,OS, and database engine)
Chunks, dbspaces, path names and offsets must be the same for primary and
secondary servers.
Blobs must be stored in dbspaces, not blobspaces
Temporary tables must be stored in the temporary dbspace specified by
DBSPACETEMPIf the root dbspace is mirrored (by the database server) on the primary
server, it must be mirrored on the secondary server.
All databases must be logging databases
All standard database tables are replicated.
ER Features
Asynchronous data replication
Update-anywhere and primary-target replication strategies supported
Log-based data capture
Flexible replicate definitions
Timely propagation of transactions to remote servers
Automatic collision detection and resolution
Single point of administration
Configurable Time-based replication
ER Restrictions
Databases must be logged
Primary Keys must match between participants
Issues may exist regarding
Triggers
Cascading deletes
Serial columns
Replication between databases in the same instance is not supported
9.2 UDT's and smart blobs are not supported.
Hope this helps.

Subject: HDR and enterprise replication
Does anyone know the difference between HDR and enterprise
replication?
It seems they both exist in version 7.3, but only HDR is available
in 9.14.
Thanks in advance,
