What about joint using both : technologies. : Sorry for my little English. It's not an either/or situation. When creating informix dbspaces on a RAID, you typically use raw devices anyway....it's just that these raw devices are spread across multiple disks, etc. As for efficiency, the conventional wisdom is that RAID 5 will cost you in such items as write speed and will gain you redundancy at a cheaper cost than mirroring. I've done some testing and was hard-pressed to find **any** performance differences. If you've got your database tuned well, you'll be looking at perhaps a 92-96% write cache hit ratio. Big deal if the remaining 4-8% take a little longer. joe -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Lumbley(jlumbley@netcom.com) Dallas, Texas ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
