DBPATH & INFORMIXSERVER - HELP

Hi, I have a problem with the following scenario: When I set INFORMIXSERVER & DBPATH i.e. INFORMIXSERVER=3Dmantcp DBPATH=3D//claptcp When I launch "dbaccess" it picks up the databases on the different = machines. However when I shutdown the local instance "mantcp" and launch = "dbaccess" I get neither databases. According to the informix manuals if INFORMIXSERVER instance is down, it = should automatically look to DBPATH which it does not appear to do. Finally, It also takes a long time to work out that INFORMIXSERVER is = down before it gives a message that this is the case. All help will be very much appreciated.
