Hello: I have some question for you. 1. What are advantage and disavantage beteween illustra and IUS (Informix Universal Server)? First off, IUS is now called Informix Dynamic Server with Universal Data Option IDS/UD IDS is faster, multi-threaded, more reliable, etc. Its a mature database. Illustra was nifty technology stuck on top of a quick hack database that was not very powerful or reliable. You will get very little tech support or bug fixes for Illustra. On the down side, Informix has a lot of baggage and history and needs to get dragged out of the past. It has not upper function, this is insane. Many of the things Illustra just did, Informix can't do because of some stupid thing in the past. The web datablade moved into IDS is terribly buggy. We are using it, and it is getting better, but still... 2. Do you recomend change illustra to IUS? Yes. 3. The systems developed in illustra can run in IUS? Mostly. There are differences. Our web pages needed modifications. Much of the MI Library stuff remains the same. 4. Some address where i can find more information. I could get very little out of Informix. Good Luck. Thanks very much for your help, i apreciate any comments. Cristina -- John B. Windberg Database Administrator Imagine Media Inc. jonwa@imaginemedia.com
