Making TEMP TABLES sticky

I have an associate who swears there is a way to make temp tables remain after a process has completed. He thinks this has to withe the WITH NO LOG keywords. I don't why he cares. It seems to me that if you want a table to remain you just create a file, but he cares. We have reviewed several Informix manuals and cannot find a reference to the temp tables remaining after process completion. Just to satisfy him, I have agreed to ask this august group. Does anyone know of a scenario where a temp table remains after a process completes? Thank you
