There are a number of possible alternative reasons than concurrency problems. For instance they may be trying to insert records that do not meet the referential integrity and check constraints of the database, if this is for sales order processing they may have many transactions where customers abort at the last minute. If concurrency problems are the major problem then you need to know what tables they are clashing on and what form of lock error they are getting. A redesign of that portion of the database may have more lasting impact than set lock mode to wait. If is possible that putting set lock mode to wait might ruin your transaction throughput and upset the user community. For instance look for all users needing access to a single record to get a unique transaction number this would respond to redesign well. Cheers - Jim My opinions are my own.
