Problem with ODBC
Hello! I hope i am here in the right place to get help! If not, can somebody guide me... We work with Informix on SCO-Unix. I developped some small MS Access-applications to allow users to get individual information. Now I installed a new PC and downloaded and installed Informix ODBC 2.90.00.12810 and get really astonishing results. The application works with linked tables. When I open the table, there is no problem, it shows me all records (a lot... more than 500'000 records). But when I access to it with a query that creates a new Access-table I get _sometimes_ an error 3146, with the message "statement interrupted by user, #-213). Sometimes, but not very often, it works... On the old PC it worked fine, I had there an ODBC-driver 2.80, and just some problems with user-identification... Are there internal limits or something like this? Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance Beat
Could you check your ODBC trace to ensure under the cover its not calling SQLCancel API and/or make sure its not calling SQLSetStmtAttr with SQL_ATTR_QUERY_TIMEOUT option? If its making calls to one of these APIs to ODBC driver then its likely that your given query is taking more time than desired and timing out with -213 error !! Could you also post exact error information which you get from ODBC? I hope you are not expecting 500K records? Are you trying to create view using Query Analyser and then use Enterprise Manager to open that view? And that takes long time (so many rows than desired)?
