Maybe the filesystem is limited to 2GB. Try creating a file > 2GB using 'dd':
bobby:/bb1/pgaa> dd if=/dev/zero of=/bb1/pgaa/testfile bs=16k count=196608
196608+0 records in.
196608+0 records out.
bobby:/bb1/pgaa> ls -l
total 6291480
drwxrwxr-x 5 bobby gizadm 256 Oct 04 12:16 apps/
drwxrwxr-x 3 bobby gizadm 256 Dec 31 13:22 data/
drwxrwxr-x 2 bobby gizadm 256 Oct 29 12:15 maps/
drwxrwxr-x 2 bobby gizadm 256 Oct 25 15:08 prj_files/
drwxrwxr-x 43 bobby gizadm 8192 Jan 11 07:24 ref_data/
-rw-r--r-- 1 bobby gizadm 3221225472 Jan 18 14:29 testfile
bobby:/bb1/pgaa>
If 'dd' fails when the filesize reaches 2GB, your filesystem is incapable of supporting 2GB+ file sizes.

Also check that the Linux "ulimit -f" command returns "unlimited". If not, try
running as "root" after entering "ulimit -f unlimited".

On v7 (OP has 7.31.UD8) as another poster has kindly pointed out, you cannot access files larger than 2Gb with a 32-bit release. It's not an OS limitation so there's no point checking that 'dd' will create files bigger than 2Gb - it probably will. You can write more than 2Gb if it is to a real tape device though. It's a pain and is one of the reasons to upgrade to v9/10. Regards, Ben.

As he's using Linux, he could unload to raw disk. He'd be OK then.
