do the following in your onconfig 1) set ALARMPROGRAM to <informix_dir>/etc/no_log.sh 2) set LTAPEDEV to /dev/null 3) set TAPEDEV to /dev/null you may need to bounce the informix engine after setting the above config parameters in the onconfig file. P.S replace <informix_dir> with the INFORMIXDIR set for the engine -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.org]On Behalf Of adave@vantage.com Sent: Thursday, May 06, 2004 4:48 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Disable backups of Informix temporarily Hello, I am in the process of reconfiguring the backup server (separate issue), and in the meanwhile, backups on the Informix dbs cannot happen. I believe the db stops working if i don't backup the logical logs and the databases for some time. Is it possible to redirect it to /dev/null or some other way until the backup server is working again? I don't know much about Informix, but can provide details if needed. Thanks, Anjan sending to informix-list
Ok. To bounce it, is this right:
$onmode -yuk
$oninit
-anjan

Yes. But alternatively use ON-Monitor to alter it - I believe it
manages to do so without taking the system off-line.
