ANCIENT Informix problems...

I recently inherited a system on a Unisys PTX 1.3 box running 4.10 Turbo/I-Star. (Turbo was the predecesor to OnLine.) About once every 24 hours, I wind up with the I-Star refusing to talk to any other databases, even other instances on the same machine. Often times I can cycle Informix to "reset" the connections, and it works, but occasionally I have to reboot the machine to fix the problem. Does anybody remember this as a problem, and if so what was the fix? I am in a position where I cannot upgrade the platform, due to legacy systems problems. (The migration is under way, but this is a production system at this point, and users are unable to do their work when the connectivitiy fails.
