Installed and configured SUSE SLES V11 on a HP RX2600 for the first time this week. Yesterday, I tried to install IDS 11.50.FC6 and had a problem. After extracting the tar file, I executed the ./ids_install script from $INFORMIXDIR as root. Answered No to run in GUI mode, get the following message, and return to the command prompt. Initializing InstallShield Wizard........ Extracting Bundled JRE. Here are the contents of the log file that is generated in /tmp/informix/. Log file created by ISMP installer @Thu Jan 28 14:17:39 CST 2010 INSTALLER_PATH=/home/informix/./ids_install No java exe file could be found to run in JAVAHOME not set, checking current directory for bundled jvm Bundled JVM found in current directory Unable to extract bundled JRE to /tmp/istemp30317029091739/_bundleJRE_ Why is the install not able to extract the JRE? Is it a problem with the installer or have I missed something in Linux? Thanks, Darryl Tverberg
Few questions: 1. Are you using the right platform media? 2. If yes, do you have adequate space in /tmp for JRE extraction? Requires approximately 75-80MB for Linux 64 JRE. Alternately, you can try using -tempdir switch to use a different path (with adequate space) for JRE extraction. I downloaded CZ6VGEN.tar "Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup Edition V11.50.FC6 Linux X86 64 Bit English" /tmp is part of the root filesystem and has 11GB available. I tried to install the .jvm.bin manually I get this error. /home/informix # /home/informix/.jvm.bin /home/informix/.jvm.bin: /home/informix/.jvm.bin: cannot execute [Exec format error] The permissions on the file appear to be OK. /home/informix # ls -al .jvm.bin -rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 45675399 Dec 15 22:43 .jvm.bin Maybe the tar is corrupt? Darryl
The error indicates platform incompatibility. Please verify download platform details and operating system version(s) its supported on.
