Dianne, To start off: 1. Make sure that both hosts are in both /etc/hosts and are the same name and IP address. 2. Make sure that the service names and ports are the same in both /etc/services. 3. Make sure that both sqlhosts entries for the HP box are the same, and that there is an entry in the HP sqlhosts for the Sun box too. 4. If none of these help, please post your /etc/hosts, /etc/services and sqlhosts from both machines. HTH.
