We have an application which supports a number of different databases includinf Informix. Our Informix users would like to be able to 'tune' their system for the optimum/max required number of locks for a particular process. I realise it is possible to masure locks via an external monitoring utility, but is it possible to predict or preferably measure the number of locks from an Informix internal/system table ? Many thanks in anticipation of your help. Ian - clarki@bigfoot.com
The informix manuals are excellent and are available on the informix site in PDF form. Have a look at Chapter 5 of the Performance Guide which explains locking in detail and then in the Administrators Guide at the section about the sysmaster database (SMI tables) in particular the syslocks table. This should give you what you need as a starter. DJ. Ian M Clark wrote: > We have an application which supports a number of different databases > includinf Informix.
