Hi, I want to know that, if i upgrade the version from IDS 11.50.FC3W1 to IDS 11.50FC4, then is it compulsory for me to update the SysMaster db as well ? If i dont update it, then will i be able to use the advance features from IDS 11.50FC4 without any discrepancies ? If this is the case, then why the new Release itself update SysMaster DB as well ? Regards
Sysmaster will normally be dropped and rebuilt automatically during the first startup of the instance under the newer version. If you are upgrading it is also a good idea to drop and recreate sysadmin as well (this is not automatic) in order to take advantage of new sysadmin and admin API features. Occasionally the sysmaster rebuild during the upgrade fails. In this case you can manually rebuild sysmaster by running the script $INFORMIXDIR/etc/buildsmi manually. This is safe to do even when there are users connected to the server, though doing so does give me the willies if I can't run it in single user mode. Art Art S. Hi, few days ago, I upgrade from xC3 to xC4 and then try to use "compression". But OAT give one error saying which some tables are missing (storage manager tables). The recomendation (google) was to rebuild the sysmanager data base with $INFORMIXDIR/etc/conv/rebuildsmi.sh I run these script and then the compression menu from OAT work fine. Some information on the web say which these database (sysmaster) is not upgraded when I upgrade the IDS. I hope these help you.
