Same / Different databases

I have 2 tables: tableA, tableB 1st case: tableA and tableB are in the same database and I run a select which joins the 2 tables. 2nd case: tableA is in one database and tableB in another database and I run the same select which joins the 2 tables. Will there be a difference in performance in these 2 cases ? And will this put extra strain on the server so that overall performance is affected ?
