Re: Problem setting LTXHWM/LTXEHWM

These parameters are used by Informix to help prevent transactions from filling all available logical log space. When the LTXHWM value is hit Online will will check for a long transaction. A long transaction is defined as a transaction that spans all unfree logical logs. If online detects a long transaction at this point it will rollback this transaction. Note that other tranactions are still able to continue. Now if during the rollback the value of LTXEHWM is reached Online will give exclusive access to the logical logs to the rollback. Note that the values of LTXHWM and LTXEHWM are percentages of available for logical log space. When setting these just ask yourself the question: "How bad to I want to avoid long transactions?" Then use 50/60 as an average and set accordingly. In a perfect world these parameters would never take effect. i.e. all transactions are defined in such a way that they never approach large percentages of the logical log space. -Bill > > > Hi, > > can someone explain what are the criteria needed attention most when > setting for both LTXHWM and LTXEHWM to prevent long transaction in online > v5.x ? > > regards, > > E-Mail:Tee.Teik.Chuang@bass.com.my > -- Bill Ennis Voice: 312-474-7516 SSA Fax: 312-474-7460 500 W.
