Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
In a thread on the IIUG 2008 feature survey, DA Morgan said Oracle has no equivalent of the Informix command UPDATE STATISTICS HIGH. Superboer replied rudely and pointed to an older Oracle newsgroup thread. Morgan answered that the advice there was to generate a histogram, quick in Oracle. Obnoxio The Clown teased Morgan. Mostly an argument, no resolution.

Tried it? It doesn't even exist. There is nothing that even
remote resembles the syntax "update statistics high" anywhere
in the product.

Reading is an acquired skill. Here's what the doc you referenced states:
"i am looking at V9 and try to figure out the equivalent command in
oracle of update statistics high for table mytable(mycolumn) in informix"
Note that "update statistics high" is an Informix command.
You were adivced to generate a histogram. Something that can be
done in a fraction of a second. And you are complaining that this
is slow?
PS: If you are going to use an obscenity at least learn how to spell it.

For shame, Danny: picking on an E2Ler for their English. Very bad form.
Luckily I'd never do something like that! :o$
