Informix 4GL for DOS memory problems

I have been having problems with the compiled version of 4GL for DOS. (My customer is requiring the use of this package, so I can't switch to more recent version.) I am getting an error -208 (Memory allocation failed during query processing) at different places in my program. It is not consistent. I even get them occasionally on a "CLOSE DATABASE" statement. Has anyone encountered these kinds of problems before.
