Re: informix cdrom

Yet another case of crappy installation instructions for an Informix product. I went through the same frustration last weekend attempting to upgrade my Informix products from cd-rom. Are you in the correct directory? Do a cd to /cdrom and make sure the file is there and not in another subdirectory, which was the case on my disc. The problem that you may be having is that you are not in your $INFORMIXDIR directory, you are actually in the cdrom file system when you do the tar. This won't work because you need to extract the files in your $INFORMIXDIR directory and NOT the cdrom. You can't write to the cdrom.
