oninit: Not enough room in ROOT DBspace.
Posted in 2011
Topics: Storage & Space Management, Server Administration
Requested 9661038K, ONCONFIG value 'ROOTSIZE' 2097152K.
using onspaces -c rootdbs -p /database/chunk03 -o 0 -s 2097152
onconfig has
ROOTNAME rootdbs # Root dbspace name
ROOTPATH /database/chunk03 # Path for device containing root dbspace
ROOTOFFSET 0 # Offset of root dbspace into device (Kbytes)
ROOTSIZE 2097152 # Size of root dbspace (Kbytes)
Why is IDS saying I requested 9661038K ?
I'm guessing that this is from an onlinit -iy.
Your logical log files and physical log files will reside in the root chunk
when oninit -iy is done.

Hi,
I think you have done something wrong:
rootdbs itself is created in oninit -i with the size set in onconfig
You cannot create rootdbs using onspaces.
If you want to add a chunk, use onspaces -a rootdbs.
Or (if I assume correctly) you are in an oninit -i process and you have
requested
too many resources for physical and logical logs, which does not fit in
the rootdbs space of 2GB.

Look at the number and size of logical logs and the size of the physical
log.
