RE: Cannot drop database in IDS 11.50.FC4

No, I mocked the number of 'wins'. We actually have IBM acknowledging a win? Oh WOW, you've got to be kidding! Mock Excitement? Sarcasm? The point that one makes when saying this isn't that there are no wins, only that IBM doesn't announce nor capitalize on their wins. Big difference. If you assume or take as fact that IDS has had 'double digit' growth continuously for 13 quarters, then you have to expect net new customers and interesting competitive wins. Yet IBM is silent. (Oh its too expensive to do the whole marketing blurb...) (Then why do you pay people to work in 'marketing', 'sales support', etc ...?) What we do see as 'wins' are tiny little blurbs that don't really help in competitive sales situations. Maybe its better this way since IBM is still relying on the BP to close these deals. ;-) We know that there are wins. Only that they are not properly exploited which would result in more growth and more Informix in the IT press. Not stories like Oracle doing an 'All you can eat' deal with the government of Scotland. There's a lot to be said about IDS, only the message isn't getting out to the mainstream press. So don't call anyone a hypocrit when they've always been critical of Informix and now IBM's marketing. -G > Date: Tue, 2 Jun 2009 07:06:35 +0100 > From: obnoxio@serendipita.com > CC: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Cannot drop database in IDS 11.50.FC4 > > Ian Michael Gumby wrote: > > On Jun 1, 6:53 pm, Obnoxio The Clown <obno...@serendipita.com> wrote: > >> Captain Pedantic wrote: > >> > >>> Maybe some of those vocal members are out in the real world, and actually > >>> know what they're doing ...? ;-) > >> That's all good and well, but then you can't bitch about a lack of > >> market presence for the latest version on one hand and then strut about > >> your real world smarts on the other. > >> > >> Unless, of course, you're a smug hypocrite. > >> > > Pot?
