Dear Friends: After an uninstall of an IDS 7.31 TD9 and subsequent installation of an IDS 7.31 TD6, clients can not connect to my database. To uninstall the I performed manually, following an internal IBM document, so there should be no problems (but apparently, any). The operating system is Windows 2008 R2. Does anyone has encountered a similar problem so I can give your help ?. From now, thank you for your attention.
Error -908 is pretty simple.... your clients can't reach or they reach but there's no Informix listening. You should perform the following steps: 1- Make sure Informix is online 2- Identify in which IP address and port it is listening. Verify SQLHOSTS (registry/setnet32) and run a "netstat -an" on the server. Search for the port (a line should have "LISTENING") and check that the IP address is the intended one 3- Make sure no firewall (windows or external) is blocking the access 4- Make sure the clients (assuming they run on different machine) can really connect to the IP address and port you've found before. As a side not I highly doubt 7.31 is certified for your environment... but that may not have anything to do with the problem, and I suppose you already know you're using an unsupported very old version on a not so old OS.
